The land proposed for the new subdivision is approached from the centre of the village along a path through a patch of bushland east of Church St. The issue has been whether to extend Church St into the subdivision. Our submission argues against doing so. These pictures illustrate the virtue of keeping this pathway and bringing it up to a standard for all weather access for pedestrians/bicycles/disabled.

The standard for a path through such an area needs to have regard for the slope and erosion issues.
This is a picture of the attractive path through a closed off former road reserve —
Blue Wren's Reserve, St George's Basin,
a joint SCC-community-Green Corps project in 2002.

Our submission gives importance to working to ensure the school can stay in Tomerong. The subdivision would consume land to the east of the school, leaving no room for school expansion — unless the Education Department purchases some of the land proposed for subdivision. The school grounds are already smaller than appropriate for its population of 160. Village population is about to double.

This is a view across the oval into the school from the subdivision boundary.

This is a view of the land in blocks 1 to 6, adjoining the school, looking south

This is a view west towards the school from 'road 2' of the proposed subdivision.
The road would be between the power poles.
We would like the land between road 2 and the school acquired for the school.

Our submission seeks development of a conservation and recreation space adjoining and along the creek, in community trust. The condition of the creek is a credit to the land owner.

There is reference to saving two turpentine trees below Road 1.
This picture shows the general character of the land and the two trees referred to.

The submission proposes that the perimeter fence
(between residences and the creek reserve)
be of a rabbit deterrent rural type.
Here is a picture of a relevant existing fence on the property,
also a picture of a similar fence near Tomerong, without barbed wire (more suitable).

Proposed entry to another anticipated subdivision on the right, entries staggered.
Speed limit and traffic calming devices and pedestrian safety needed.
Children will need to cross this road en route to and from school.
