Tomerong School of Arts
is affectionately known by some as
the centre
of the universe.

Hello, I'm Sandra Lee, current President of the School of Arts. We look forward to having you visit or set up for your own event in our hall.

We are at the centre of the Shoalhaven,
neatly placed between Berry in the North and Ulladulla in the South.
We welcome you to our events and to use the hall and grounds for your own occasions. Come to our monthly market to check us out and meet the community.
Since 1926, when it was built by the community, Tomerong School of Arts (commonly called Tomerong Hall) has been home to special community events many wonderful events, from bush dances to weddings to world music.
They say the walls are so soaked with good times that it is nigh impossible to hold an event at our Hall that is not happy and memorable.
The concept of Schools of Arts emerged in the 1850s to provide education to working class people, many of whom received only limited schooling.
In fact Tomerong also established its own library soon after the Hall was opened.
The hall and grounds are in use day and night.
There is a popular Tomerong Playgroup.

Bookings at night are not easy to obtain.
The Tomerong School of Arts is home to 'Raised Voices', an a capella choir, 'Wand'ring Menstruals' Womens choir and, on Sunday mornings, the One Way Christian Fellowship Church.
We work hard to enhance facilities, with huge contributions by community volunteers.
Future plans for the Hall include:
• improving the surface and drainage in the car park,
• repair work and painting of the ceiling,
• conservation work around the front of the hall to level this area and allow access and air to flow under the front of the building, and
• a deck to go on the southern side of the buidling.
Recent works have seen:
• a fabulous new kitchen,
• crushed granite spread on the southern side and a new pathway,
•
picnic table and chairs, a shaded sandpit and swings and
• a seat outside the front of the hall.
We acknowledge grant assistance from local and state government. We are also indebted to the Green Corps team who helped a lot with landscaping in 2005 and who presented us with framed photos of their work and earlier pictures of Tomerong. These are hung in the hall.
