Tomerong School of Arts
Performers and performances
Let's start with Ecobeat... who make their home at the Tomerong School of Arts.
EcoBeat got together in June 2004 for a one-off performance for the Shoalhaven EcoVillage project at Tomerong Hall. They have been performing ever since both in the Shoalhaven and at Music and Arts Festivals on the South Coast and Braidwood.
Ecobeat represent modern Australian music —
a mix of cultures, just as we are. Some of our tunes are new and original and some are hundreds of years old.
Our aim is to join people in celebration by translating that which is very old and uniting it with the new to create excitement, joy and dancing!
Indoors or outdoors, in concerts or providing a bright background to festive events,
we play many instruments:
marimba, mandolin, clarinet, sax, African drums, blues harp, vocals, guitars and more.
Ecobeat bring to life Balkan, Romany (Gypsy), Middle Eastern, Cuban and African and their own original music and dance. Their captivating rhythms will get you on your feet!

Each year, for
International
Womens Day
and also for other special
occasions we assemble and
rehearse the famous
Wand'ring Menstruals Choir

Another GREAT ACT that
we like to claim as our own
a regular here who runs fast all over the country is
Paul Greene
- click here for Paul's web site
With one arm sunburnt from driving all day in the harsh Australian sun,
Paul Greene rolls into town, brandishing a stomp box, a belt of harmonicas,
an old valve amplifier and an assortment of acoustic guitars
— each travel-worn and hard-worked, with a story and personality of its own ...Greene sings:
"I was thinking of leaving
but since you're here I'll stay
coincidence of fate you could put a bet on each way
and if life is a gamble then I guess I can't complain
when we're trying to figure out the sum of your days" [1]

Paul is living with his young family in Culburra.
He has a strong local following and a widening appeal
around the country.
Paul's fourth album "RESET" was released in 2006
and, securing radio play, has lifted his visibility to a mainstream audience
— not easy for an independent-minded 'unsigned artist'.

Hey
we also have to mention the Tomerong CD!
Conceived in community fundraising concerts in our hall,
recorded in the backyard studio in Tomerong Street, Tomerong...
How authentic is that!
